The owner of Reedley St. Farms/Cottonwood Urban Farm in Panorama City has a deep connection to community, education, & ecology.
Elliot will share with us the exciting tale of converting a dusty, vacant plot into a highly productive urban farm using creative growing techniques (season extension, intercropping, succession planting) to cultivate a variety of vegetables, fruits & herbs. Potluck follows. Please bring utensils for low waste event.

Topic:”Vermicomposting – Composting with Worms” by Danielle Pisano. New studies suggest Worm castings are extremely beneficial in that they stimulate plant growth more than compost, enhance the ability of your soil to retain water, and also inhibit root diseases such as root rot. Worm castings humus removes toxins, harmful fungi and bacteria from soil.
